The memory of Julian’s chilling pronouncement – “You’re mine, Elara, and I’ll have you back, one way or another” – was a phantom limb, an ache that refused to subside.

“He’ll be looking,” Liam said, his voice low and steady. “He’ll pull every string, call in every favor. He won’t let this go.”
