The world, for so long, had been a muted canvas, painted in shades of grey and fear. Each day dawned with a familiar ache, a hollow space where joy should have resided. The shadows of what had happened were long and deep, stretching across my childhood, twisting familiar spaces into places of dread. Yet, even in the suffocating darkness, a tiny ember refused to be extinguished. It was a flicker, barely perceptible at first, a stubborn refusal to be consumed entirely.

It was a small act, but it felt like defiance. It was me, reaching for something solid in a world that felt perpetually unstable.
