Chapter 6
The Serpent's Script
With trembling hands, Alex opens the diary. The pages reveal Seraphina's outlandish schemes and, surprisingly, her deep-seated insecurities.
The latch clicked with a tiny, metallic sigh, a sound so small it was swallowed by the cavernous silence of Seraphina’s dressing room. My fingers, slick with a nervous sweat, hovered over the cool, scaly surface. Every instinct screamed at me to flee, to pretend I’d never seen it, to return to the predictable, albeit terrifying, theatre of my daily life. But the whispers from the walls, the lingering echoes of Seraphina’s pronouncements, had planted a seed of insatiable curiosity. Who *was* this woman, this architect of my daily dread? What lay beneath the veneer of theatrical cruelty?
