Laura’s bedroom was a testament to her inner world: a vibrant explosion of half-finished sketches, dog-eared poetry books, and a lingering scent of lavender and nervous energy. It was here, amidst the comforting chaos, that she confessed her mortifying secret to Billie. Billie, sprawled on Laura’s bed like a discarded fashion magazine, her usually vibrant pink hair looking a little less vibrant after a day of school, listened with wide, saucer-like eyes.

“You *what*?” Billie finally squeaked, sitting bolt upright, her hands flying to her mouth. “You emailed *that* to Marcus Morrison? The Marcus Morrison? The one who looks like a Greek god sculpted from pure charisma and expensive cologne?”

Laura, hunched on her desk chair, felt her face ignite for what felt like the hundredth time that day. “Yes, Billie. The very same. It was a mistake. A colossal, universe-ending, career-as-a-human-being-ending mistake.” She buried her face in her hands, her voice muffled. “I meant to send it to myself. To, you know, document my… artistic endeavors.”
