A chilling darkness begins to seep into the vibrant tapestry of Leo’s world. Subtle at first, it casts long shadows, threatening the magic and joy, a growing unease for Leo and his companions.
The air in the Whispering Isles had always tasted of salt and freedom, a tang that Leo had come to associate with the swagger of pirates and the glint of buried treasure. But lately, something else had begun to mingle with that familiar scent, something cold and metallic, like a storm gathering on the horizon. It was subtle, insidious, a mere whisper at first, easily dismissed as a trick of the wind or a figment of his overactive imagination.
He’d been showing Maya and Sam the hidden cove where the Spanish galleon was rumored to have sunk, its treasure chests now supposedly guarded by luminous jellyfish. Maya, ever the enthusiast, had been practically bouncing on the balls of her feet, her eyes wide with anticipation. Sam, true to form, had been kicking at a loose stone, a slight frown creasing his brow as if trying to reconcile the fantastical with the mundane reality of the rocky shore.
“See?” Leo had pointed, his voice ringing with the excitement of discovery. “It’s supposed to be right there, just past that cluster of kelp. Old Captain Blackheart’s hoard!”
