The silence in my apartment was a heavy blanket, a stark contrast to the cacophony of alarms and flashing lights that had filled my life for weeks. It was over. Thorne, the architect of so much darkness, was in custody, his smug certainty finally shattered by the weight of irrefutable evidence. The agency, a behemoth built on secrets and fear, was being systematically dismantled, its tendrils of control finally severed. News channels, once carefully curated by the agency's disinformation campaigns, were now ablaze with the truth, broadcasting the grim reality of their experiments, their manipulations, their utter disregard for human life.

Circuit, a silent observer in my makeshift lab, the humming of its processors a soft counterpoint to the ticking clock on my wall, projected a holographic image of a news anchor’s face onto the opposite wall. Her voice, usually a measured cadence, was now filled with a righteous fury that was almost intoxicating. "Director Thorne, once a figure of untouchable power, was apprehended this morning at his private residence..."

I ran a hand through my hair, the fatigue a bone-deep ache that no amount of sleep could alleviate. We’d done it. Circuit and I. We’d pulled back the curtain, exposed the rot at the heart of the system. But the victory felt… hollow. The cheers from the public, the pronouncements of justice, they felt distant, like echoes from a world I no longer fully inhabited.
