Barty Bumble's Grand Entrance

The cacophony of the Morris dancers had finally subsided, leaving Jon with a ringing in his ears and a distinct suspicion that his quest for the Giggle Gem might be slightly more… interactive than he'd anticipated. He was attempting to discreetly disentangle himself from a particularly enthusiastic ribbon, which seemed determined to permanently fuse itself to his tweed jacket, when a voice boomed, dripping with the self-importance of a peacock who’d just discovered its own reflection.

“Hark! What have we here? A fledgling adventurer, perhaps? Or merely a lost pigeon?”

Jon froze, the ribbon momentarily forgotten. He squinted, his gaze landing on a figure who seemed to have materialized from a particularly gaudy tapestry. This was a man of impressive girth, clad in an outfit that suggested a safari had collided with a royal wedding. A pith helmet perched precariously on his head, adorned with what looked suspiciously like a peacock feather. His monocle gleamed with an almost aggressive self-satisfaction.
