Chapter 20
Merrymaking Magnified
Jon, the master of his own merrymaking, spreads laughter not through a gem, but through his infectious enthusiasm and acceptance of life's beautiful chaos.
Jon, a man who had once believed true merriment could be bottled, bagged, and, most importantly, *acquired* in the form of a glittering, mythical stone, now understood. He understood that joy wasn’t a treasure to be unearthed, but a soil to be tended. And his own little patch, once barren and awkward, was now a riotous, blooming garden, tended by his own two, slightly-too-big, clumsy hands. The Giggle Gem, he’d finally conceded, was less about a tangible object and more about an intangible, effervescent state of being. It was the ability to laugh at the badger’s indignant snort, to appreciate the chaotic rhythm of the Morris dancers, to navigate the silent, expressive world of the dance-talking villagers, and, most importantly, to laugh at himself.

He’d arrived back at his own doorstep, not with a pouch of sparkling treasure, but with a heart full of absurd memories and a newfound ease that settled on him like a favourite, slightly worn jumper.
His first social engagement post-adventure was a neighbourhood barbecue. Usually, these events were Jon’s personal Everest, a mountain of polite small talk and strained smiles he’d invariably stumble down. He’d arrive late, spill something on himself within the first five minutes, and spend the rest of the evening lurking near the crisps, contemplating the existential dread of a dropped vol-au-vent. But this time, something was different.
