The rain drummed a melancholic rhythm against the windowpanes, each drop a tiny sigh for the joy that seemed to have evaporated from their home. Ushe, his brow furrowed with a worry that felt too heavy for his small shoulders, watched Mummy from the doorway of the parlour.
