Budgie Rescue Plan

Zeus and Yaz track the budgies to the burglars' hideout. Yaz reminds Zeus to be patient and plan. Their first step: disable the getaway truck by chewing through the tires.

The scent was faint, a mere whisper on the wind, but Zeus’s nose twitched with an undeniable recognition. It was the sweet, slightly dusty aroma of the farmer’s prized budgies, mingled with something else… something metallic and oily. He stopped dead, his powerful Belgian Malinois senses on high alert. Yaz, perched on a branch above, hooted softly, her wide, intelligent eyes scanning the dense undergrowth.

“Anything, young Zeus?” her voice, a rustle of dry leaves, reached him.

Zeus whined, a low rumble in his chest. “I smell them, Yaz. And… and I smell that truck. The one the burglars had.” He nudged a patch of disturbed earth with his snout, revealing faint tire tracks. “They’re close. Really close.”
