Agent Miller
Agent Miller of the FBI agent assigned to keep Mr stamp alive and create a new identity for him and transporting him from Chicago to Texas
The sterile smell of disinfectant, usually a minor annoyance, was a welcome reprieve from the lingering metallic tang of fear and desperation that clung to the air like cheap perfume. Agent Miller’s presence was a stark contrast to the grimy alleyways and hushed whispers of my usual haunts. She was all crisp lines and sharp angles, a perfectly tailored suit that screamed efficiency and a gaze that could strip paint. I’d expected a gruff, cigar-chomping G-man, but Miller was something else entirely. Young, perhaps, but with an unnerving stillness that hinted at depths I hadn’t yet plumbed.
“Mr. Stamp,” she began, her voice low and even, devoid of any warmth. It was the kind of voice that could order a firing squad without blinking. “I’m Agent Miller. We’ve been expecting you.”
Expected. Such a mild word for the circus I’d inadvertently orchestrated. The mafia’s long reach, Jacob’s blood-soaked hands, and my own dubious moral compass had converged into this peculiar, high-stakes game of hide-and-seek. And now, here I was, the fox being escorted by the very hounds I’d been trying to outrun, albeit with a different kind of leash.
