Following a faint, almost imperceptible trail of dark magic and whispered rumors, Bishop Dark uncovers evidence that shatters his perception of Talia's innocence. The clues suggest that his sister may not have been a victim, but a willing participant, perhaps even seeking out dark powers before her disappearance. This revelation is a cruel blow, forcing him to confront the possibility that the sister he cherishes might be as lost as the entities he hunts.
The air in Sarai’s shop was thick with the cloying scent of incense and something else, something vaguely metallic and unsettling, like old blood. Bishop Dark leaned against a display of glittering trinkets, each one promising protection or prosperity, and none of them likely to deliver. He nursed a flask of something that burned all the way down, a familiar comfort in the suffocating opulence. Sarai, perched on a stool behind a counter carved from what looked suspiciously like dragon bone, was meticulously polishing a silver dagger. Her movements were precise, her focus absolute, until she finally looked up, her dark eyes glinting.
“Still chasing ghosts, Bishop?” Her voice was a low purr, laced with amusement. “Or has the Church finally found a task that doesn’t involve you getting your knuckles bloody?”
Bishop Dark grunted, taking another swig from his flask. “Just a whisper, Sarai. A faint echo in the dark. Something about… deviations.”
