The air in Havenwood, once thick with the scent of pine and the low hum of fear, now carried a lightness, a clean, crisp breath exhaled after a long, held agony. The oppressive darkness that had coiled around the edges of their world, a tangible manifestation of ancient malice, had retreated. It had been pushed back, not by practiced spells or the measured power of the coven, but by the raw, untamed tempest of Lara’s wild magic. Maeve followed, her earlier suspicion replaced by a stunned awe that made her look almost vulnerable. Other members of the coven emerged from the trees, their faces etched with relief and a dawning respect. The silence that had fallen after the final, explosive surge of Lara’s power was breaking, replaced by murmurs, then by hushed greetings.
