The air in the attic, usually thick with the scent of dust and forgotten dreams, was now charged with a different kind of energy. It hummed, a low thrum that vibrated not just in their ears, but in the very marrow of their bones. The Rewop Thing, nestled on its makeshift stand of old hatboxes, pulsed with a light that was no longer merely curious, but insistent. It was the light of a thousand unknown futures, flickering and coalescing before their eyes.

Sarah, perched on an overturned trunk, hugged her knees to her chest, her usual sarcasm rendered mute. Beside her, Eleanor stood with her hand resting on her daughter’s shoulder, a gesture of comfort that felt both fiercely protective and deeply uncertain. They had activated the Thing again, not intentionally, but as if drawn by some invisible, irresistible tide. This time, however, the familiar lurch of disorientation, the sensation of being plucked from their reality, was replaced by a more insidious, internal shift. The attic seemed to stretch, to deepen, its shadows not just of darkness but of possibility.

The light intensified, coalescing into a swirling vortex above the Rewop Thing. It didn't pull them in, not physically. Instead, it projected. Images began to form within the light, shimmering and indistinct at first, then sharpening with unnerving clarity. They were visions, Sarah realized with a shiver that had nothing to do with the attic's chill. Visions of what could be.
