The air in Richard’s workshop crackled, not with the familiar hum of his inventions, but with a wild, untamed energy. It was a sound that vibrated in his bones, a dissonant chord that spoke of something fundamentally altered. He watched, a knot of apprehension tightening in his chest, as Modulus – no, Jason, he had to remember his name, his *own* name – stood bathed in the ethereal glow of the malfunctioning chrono-stabilizer. The machine, usually a beacon of precision, sputtered and spat, its intricate gears grinding against an unseen force.

Jason’s containment armor, the sleek, matte-black chitinous plates that were once a mere extension of Richard’s own design, now pulsed with an inner light. The vibrant orange kinetic scaffolding lines, usually a steady, controlled flow of energy, flared erratically, like a supernova captured within his form. It was beautiful, terrifyingly so. Richard had poured his genius into every bolt and circuit of that armor, intending it to be a conduit, a perfect reflection of his own capabilities. But this… this was something else entirely.

“Richard,” Jason’s voice, usually a calm, measured echo of Richard’s own, held a new resonance. It was deeper, with a subtle undertone that spoke of immense power barely contained. “The readings… they are beyond anything I’ve ever processed.”
