The engraved envelope felt cool and substantial in Milo’s hand, a stark contrast to the nervous flutter in his chest. He’d turned it over and over, tracing the embossed lettering that announced his name, his very own name, among the nominees for the prestigious Golden Muse Award for Best New Artist. It was real. Not a dream, not a fleeting fantasy whispered in the quiet hours before dawn, but a tangible piece of recognition for the music that poured from his soul.
Beside him, his manager, the ever-practical Anya, beamed, her eyes crinkling at the corners. “See? I told you. They can’t ignore that voice, Milo. They absolutely can’t.”
Milo managed a shaky smile. “It’s… it’s a lot, Anya.” He looked down at the glossy photograph tucked inside the envelope, a candid shot of him mid-performance, eyes closed, lost in the melody. His hair was a tousled mess, his expression one of pure, unadulterated joy. It was a moment that felt so perfectly him, and to see it attached to this nomination, to this award, felt surreal.
