It rested upon the velvet cushion, a silent testament to the weight of Wallachia’s history, and the impossible future I was destined to inherit. But tonight, the throne was not my focus. My gaze was drawn to the flickering candlelight that danced across Marishka’s face, illuminating the delicate curve of her cheek, the fierce intelligence in her eyes. We were in my private chambers, a sanctuary carved from the oppressive grandeur of the palace, a place where the whispers of duty and the shadows of prophecy could not penetrate.
"It feels like a lifetime since we last stole these moments," I murmured, my voice a low rumble in the quiet room. The air between us thrummed with an unspoken longing, a fragile melody woven from stolen glances and hushed confessions.
Marishka’s fingers traced the rim of her chalice, her gaze distant. “Time is a fickle thing, Mihail.
