Our New Adventure Begins

Leo’s eyelids fluttered, still heavy with sleep, but his mind was already a kaleidoscope of swirling colors and unanswered questions. The new house. It loomed in his thoughts like a giant, friendly monster, its windows like wide, curious eyes. He’d seen it, of course, a glimpse of its brick face and the tall, whispering trees that guarded its entrance. But seeing was one thing, and *being* there was another entirely. What if it was too quiet? What if the shadows in the corners were *too* dark? What if there were no secret passages at all? The thought sent a flutter through his tummy, a tiny bird trapped in a cage.

He rolled over, burrowing deeper into his warm blankets, the familiar scent of his own room a comforting anchor. But even here, in his old bed, the new house tugged at his imagination. He’d dreamt of strange symbols etched into the walls, of tiny doors hidden behind bookshelves, of whispers carried on the wind that spoke of forgotten secrets. Mommy had smiled when he’d told her about the symbols, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "Sometimes," she'd said, her voice soft like a lullaby, "the most interesting things are the ones you have to look for very, very closely." And Daddy, he’d winked, patting Leo’s head. "Every house has its stories, Leo. We just have to be brave enough to listen."

Brave enough. Leo liked that. He imagined himself as a knight, his cardboard sword at his side, venturing into the unknown. But even knights got a little nervous before a big quest, didn't they? He pictured a grand staircase, spiraling upwards like a giant shell, and wondered if it would creak under his weight. He imagined a garden, overgrown and wild, where hidden pathways might lead to… well, he wasn’t sure what. That was the best part, wasn't it? The not knowing.
