The cursor blinked on the screen, a tiny, relentless metronome counting down the seconds Maya didn’t have. Ten minutes. Ten minutes to decide the fate of a relationship, the erasure of a person, and the very fabric of her own memory. Her breath hitched, a small, ragged sound in the otherwise silent room. It felt absurd, standing here, phone in hand, being offered such a drastic, irreversible choice by a glowing rectangle. Yet, the weight of it settled on her shoulders, a tangible pressure that made it hard to breathe.
