Justin Bieber Meeting Her Friend, Leo

2 min read

The afternoon sun, usually a cheerful presence, felt a little too bright for Mary’s liking. She clutched Luna’s hand, her knuckles white against the familiar warmth of her friend's. They were walking through the bustling town square, a place they usually loved to explore, but today Mary’s stomach did a nervous flutter with every passing stranger. Luna, ever perceptive, squeezed her hand gently. "Are you okay, Mary?" she asked, her blue eyes filled with concern. Mary could only manage a small nod, her gaze fixed on the colorful banners flapping overhead. It was all too much. The noise, the crowds, the sheer possibility of *someone* recognizing her. After the unexpected encounter with Justin Bieber the other day, Mary had been a whirlwind of excitement and, frankly, a lot of shyness. She’d replayed the brief conversation a hundred times, her cheeks flushing with each memory. Now, the thought of being seen, of anyone knowing she’d met *him*, made her want to disappear.

Suddenly, Luna stopped, pulling Mary to a halt. "Look!" she exclaimed, her voice full of surprise. Mary followed Luna's gaze, her eyes widening. Standing near a quaint little bookshop was a boy with a mop of sandy-brown hair and a friendly smile. He was holding a bright red kite, its tail dancing in the breeze. It was Leo, a boy from Luna's class that Mary had heard about but never met. He looked up, his eyes meeting Luna's, and his smile widened. "Luna! Hey!" he called out, waving cheerfully. Luna beamed, her shyness melting away. "Leo! This is my best friend, Mary," she said, gesturing towards Mary. Mary managed a hesitant wave, her heart still thumping a nervous rhythm against her ribs. Leo, oblivious to Mary's internal turmoil, jogged over, the kite bobbing behind him. "Nice to meet you, Mary," he said, his voice warm and easy. "We were just about to fly this kite. Want to join us?" The offer hung in the air, a tempting invitation. Mary looked at Luna, whose eyes sparkled with anticipation, and then at Leo, whose friendly gaze offered no judgment. Taking a deep breath, she felt a sliver of her usual adventurous spirit begin to push through the shyness. Maybe, just maybe, this new friendship would be as easy and bright as flying a kite.
