The silence in my workshop was deafening, a stark contrast to the usual hum of creativity and the gentle purr of Snowy, or the excited yip of Mickey. Starry, usually a blur of white fur chasing imaginary dust bunnies, was curled up on a bolt of silk, her little body vibrating with a quiet sadness that mirrored my own. The crumpled, torn fabric lay on my worktable, a mocking testament to my failure. My first major fashion show, the culmination of so many late nights and whispered dreams, was teetering on the brink of disaster. Tears pricked at my eyes, hot and unwelcome, blurring the already smudged sketches scattered around me. Standing on the edge of my worktable, bathed in the soft glow of the overhead lamps, were three impossibly tiny figures. They were no taller than my thumb, their forms shimmering with an ethereal light. One had hair like spun moonlight, another radiated a warm, golden glow, and the third’s presence felt as gentle as a summer breeze. They were beautiful, utterly and breathtakingly beautiful, their delicate wings fluttering with silent grace.
