Mary Meeting Her 18 Years Old Boyfriend, Alex
The bell above the door chimed, a cheerful little melody that announced a visitor. Mary, hunched over her sewing machine, her long black hair falling forward like a silken curtain, didn't immediately look up. Snowy, her white cat, twitched an ear from her sunbeam nap on the counter, and Starry, the kitten, paused mid-pounce on a stray thread. Mickey, the brown puppy, let out a happy little yip, his tail thumping a rapid rhythm against the worn floorboards.
"Just a moment!" Mary called out, her voice a little muffled by the whirring of the machine. She was meticulously attaching a delicate lace trim to a flowing skirt, a design born from Starry's sequin discovery.
The visitor stepped further into the shop, his footsteps light and confident. "No rush, Mary," a warm, familiar voice replied.
