The city hummed, a symphony of car horns, distant sirens, and the murmur of a million conversations, all weaving together into the unique soundtrack of New York. It was a sound I had always loved, a constant, vibrant pulse that thrummed through the soles of my shoes and settled deep in my bones. Today, though, the city wasn't just a backdrop; it was my muse, my canvas, my inspiration.
I stepped out of my shop, a little breath held tight in my chest, Snowy and Starry trailing behind me, their usual feline grace amplified by the sheer energy of the sidewalk. Snowy, ever the picture of calm elegance, weaved through the legs of hurried pedestrians with a serene detachment, her blue eyes taking in the kaleidoscope of colors and movement. Starry, on the other hand, was a furry comet, her tiny white form a blur as she chased after a discarded feather dancing in the breeze, her brown eyes wide with delighted curiosity. Mickey, bless his clumsy heart, was attempting to keep pace, his tail wagging a frantic rhythm against his sides, his entire being a testament to boundless enthusiasm.
"Careful, Starry!" I called out, a smile tugging at my lips as she pounced on the feather, batting it around with playful abandon. "Don't want to get lost in the big city!"
