The air in the chamber was thick, not with dust, but with a palpable sorrow that clung to the stone like a shroud. It wasn’t the sharp, immediate grief of a recent loss, but something older, deeper, a low thrum of pain that resonated in the very marrow of my bones. This was the Chamber of the Fractured Reflection, and the name, I was beginning to understand, was no mere metaphor.

The walls here weren't smooth and unbroken like those in Sophia’s fading sanctuary. Instead, they were a mosaic of jagged shards, each one a mirror, but none reflecting a complete image. My own face, when I dared to look, was a fragmented thing – an eye here, a sliver of a smile there, a disembodied brow etched with a worry that wasn’t entirely my own. It was as if the very act of seeing had been broken, scattered into a thousand discordant pieces.

I traced a crack with my fingertip, the cold seeping into my skin. It felt like a scar, not just on the surface of the stone, but on something far more profound. This, I realized with a chilling certainty, was the embodiment of the Fractured Wave. It wasn't a single, coherent surge of energy, but a torrent of broken currents, each carrying its own splinter of pain, its own shard of forgotten history.
