The air in the Chamber of Return was not air at all, but a soft, pervasive luminescence, like the inside of a pearl. It hummed, not with sound, but with a vibration that resonated deep within my bones, a forgotten frequency I recognized with a pang that was both sorrow and exquisite relief. I had been searching for something, a city, a text, a date, but here, the very concept of ‘searching’ dissolved. There was only ‘being.’

I stood on a floor that was not solid, yet supported me, a surface that felt like cool, flowing water, yet held my weight.
