The air in the archive was thick with the scent of aging paper and forgotten dust, a perfume I’d come to associate with the ghosts of history. My fingers, stained with ink and the faint, metallic tang of old brass instruments, traced the worn edges of the Codex. It lay open before me, not to the intricate diagrams of celestial bodies or the cryptic geometrical patterns I’d grown accustomed to, but to a section more sparse, more elemental. It felt like a pause, a breath held before a plunge.

I’d been wrestling with the fractured narratives, the jarring shifts in perspective that seemed to pull me out of myself, dragging me through moments that were not my own, yet felt disturbingly familiar. Each chamber I’d navigated, each glyph I’d deciphered, had been a storm of sensation, a whirl of emotion. The Standing Wave, with its promise of underlying harmony, felt distant, a melody I could only faintly recall. The Fractured Wave, the scar of collective trauma, was a palpable ache, a constant thrum beneath the surface of my understanding. Anamoria’s whispers, Sophia’s veiled pronouncements – they were all part of this tumultuous sea.

And then, there was this. A single, stark symbol, a circle within a circle, with a single point at its absolute center. Beside it, a few lines of text, rendered in a script I’d only seen hints of before, a language that felt less like words and more like pure intention. The accompanying commentary, sparse as it was, spoke of the Witness.
