The air in the small tea shop buzzed with a quiet excitement, a gentle hum that felt both familiar and wonderfully new. Anya smoothed down her skirt, her heart doing a little tap-dance against her ribs. She clutched the worn photograph of her great-grandmother, the one Grams had given her, its edges softened with age and love. This was it. The address from Mr. Abernathy’s deciphered letter, the one that spoke of a ‘tea at half-past three,’ had led her here, to a place called ‘The Cozy Kettle.’

She’d arrived a few minutes early, just as Grams had always advised for important appointments. The scent of brewing tea and warm scones filled the air, a comforting aroma that reminded Anya of home, yet with a distinctly English twist. Lace doilies adorned the small, round tables, and delicate china teacups sat waiting like shy guests. Anya found a quiet corner table, her eyes scanning the entrance every time the little bell above the door chimed.

Then, the bell chimed again, and a woman with kind eyes and a smile that crinkled their corners entered. She was looking around, a slight frown of concentration on her face, much like Anya had been doing moments before. Her hair was a soft, silvery grey, pinned elegantly, and she wore a sensible, floral-patterned dress. Could this be her? The letter had mentioned a ‘Cousin Eleanor.’
