The roar of the wind had finally subsided, leaving behind a silence that was as deafening as the storm it replaced. Lumu stood on what remained of the harbor overlook, his massive frame a silhouette against the bruised dawn sky. Below him, Kalagi was a tapestry of ruin. Homes were splintered, boats were tossed like toys, and the familiar, verdant hillsides were scarred by landslides. A profound ache settled in his chest, a visceral response to the devastation. This was not the Kalagi he knew, the vibrant, laughing island that pulsed with life. This was a wounded beast, broken and bleeding.
