Sesha’s breath hitched, the weight of Charan’s words settling upon her like a shroud. The opulent living room, bathed in the soft glow of the Bangalore twilight filtering through the expansive windows, suddenly felt suffocating. Charan’s eyes, once so full of adoration and a fierce, unwavering love, now held a complex mixture of pain, accusation, and a flicker of something she dared not name – perhaps hope. He stood before her, a man transformed, a testament to a year of relentless striving, a year she had spent believing herself abandoned.

“My husband?” The words, barely a whisper, escaped her lips. It was a question, a plea, a denial all rolled into one. The man who had slapped her, the man she had fled from in the dead of night, was now standing before her, dressed in tailored clothes, owning a house that spoke of a success she could only dream of. He took a step closer, his hand reaching out, not to strike, but to gently cup her cheek. “Yes, Sesha. Your husband. The man who has loved you from the moment he saw you, the man who has searched for you relentlessly, the man who has worked his fingers to the bone to make you happy, just as I promised.” His voice was thick with emotion, a raw vulnerability that tore at her soul. “I came here for you, Sesha. Only for you.”
