The last of the glitter had been swept, or rather, *sparkled* away. Not entirely, of course. A truly determined effort had been made, by everyone from the mayor’s stern-faced sanitation department to Elara’s own flour-dusted hands, to scrub the town clean of Dr. Sparkle’s runaway shimmer. But a town, much like a well-loved, slightly eccentric aunt, couldn’t quite shed its most memorable quirks. A faint, almost imperceptible dusting of iridescent particles still clung to the eaves of the bakery, winked from the cracks in the cobblestones, and occasionally caught the sunlight in a way that made you squint and wonder if you’d had too much iced coffee.

Mayor Grumbleson, bless his perpetually furrowed brow, had overseen the great glitter-scrubbing with the grim determination of a man defusing a particularly sparkly bomb. He’d stomped through the streets, his normally thunderous pronouncements softened to a series of exasperated huffs and puffs, his eyes scanning for any errant speck. For days, the town had been a whirlwind of brooms, mops, and strategically deployed vacuum cleaners, all set to the soundtrack of the mayor’s increasingly weary sighs.

But something unexpected had happened during the Great Glitter Purge. As the initial panic subsided, and the sheer, overwhelming *sparkle* began to feel less like a catastrophe and more like a very, very odd Tuesday, a peculiar shift occurred. The townsfolk, who had initially been up in arms, began to… well, to *like* it.
