The air in Elara’s bakery, once thick with the comforting scent of yeast and sugar, now hummed with a frantic, sparkly energy. The sourdough starter, no longer a gentle, bubbly elder, had transformed into a miniature supernova, pulsating with an unruly, iridescent glow. It was a tempest in a teacup, a glittery hurricane threatening to engulf her life’s work. Mayor Grumbleson’s face, a permanent fixture of a thundercloud, was practically crackling with static electricity from his sheer, unadulterated fury. He’d stormed in, his usually immaculate suit dusted with a fine layer of shimmering debris, his mustache practically vibrating with indignation.
"Elara!" he boomed, his voice echoing off the flour-dusted walls, which, incidentally, were now adorned with random, sticky patches of glitter. "This is an outrage! My perfectly manicured mayoral garden… it looks like a unicorn sneezed on it! And the town hall fountain? It’s a disco ball of despair!"
Elara, her usually bright eyes wide with a mixture of panic and a strange, burgeoning admiration for the sheer audacity of her creation, wrung her flour-covered hands. "Mayor Grumbleson, I… I am so, so sorry. It was an accident. A very, very sparkly accident."
