The antidote, a bubbling concoction of questionable origins and even more questionable ingredients, sat innocently on the counter, its pearly sheen a stark contrast to the frantic glint in Elara’s eyes. Beside it, Mayor Grumbleson, surprisingly still and composed, adjusted his tie, a rare flicker of something akin to hope softening the perpetual scowl etched onto his face. Dr. Sparkle, perched precariously on a stool that looked suspiciously like it had been salvaged from a forgotten laboratory, fiddled with a tiny pipette, their usual manic glee momentarily subdued by the gravity of the situation.

“So,” Elara began, her voice a little too high, “we just… pour this… into the starter?” She eyed the ancient crock, now a pulsating orb of iridescent chaos, with a mixture of dread and a strange, perverse pride. It had been a magnificent disaster, truly.

This antidote, derived from the concentrated essence of pure, unadulterated blandness,” they gestured vaguely towards a jar containing what looked like dried mashed potato flakes, “should neutralize the glitter’s energetic output and restore the starter to its rightful, and thankfully non-explosive, state of being.”
