Amelia surveyed the construction site, the midday sun beating down on her impeccably tailored linen suit. It was a symphony of controlled chaos, a ballet of steel and concrete, and she adored every precisely measured inch of it. Her gaze swept over the scaffolding, the industrious ant-like figures of the workers, the hum of machinery a familiar, comforting drone. This was her domain, a testament to meticulous planning, to the beauty of a well-executed blueprint. And yet, a certain… vibrancy was missing. A splash of unruly color, perhaps, like the rambling wisteria that had somehow managed to bloom with breathtaking abandon over the stark brickwork of the adjacent historic building.
That wisteria, of course, was Liam’s doing. Or rather, his *lack* of doing, his enthusiastic encouragement of its wild growth. He’d charmed the historical society into letting it cascade, much to Amelia’s initial horror. “It’s a hazard!” she’d declared, her voice tight with professional concern. “It’ll damage the mortar. It’s not… structurally sound.”
Liam had just grinned, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “But look at it, Amelia. It’s alive. It’s a masterpiece of nature’s own design. You can’t just pave over beauty, can you?”
