Her current reality was a soft, domestic landscape. The gentle snores of Maya and Lena, her partners, drifted from the adjoining room, a comforting counterpoint to the restless thrumming within her. Yet, even in the embrace of their warmth, Taji’s phantom limb of a presence would reach out, a spectral caress that sent shivers down her spine, sparking a familiar, incandescent ache.
