Chapter 4
A World Remade
The betrayal struck, leaving Lysander's world cold and unfamiliar. His fairytale lay in ruins, and he was left to navigate a reality stripped of its enchantment. He sought counsel from the Village Elder, grappling with the pain and the mystery of love.
The world, once a vibrant spectrum of hues I’d never known existed, had fractured. It splintered into a million sharp, glittering shards, each one reflecting a distorted, painful image of what I had believed to be true. The warmth that had enveloped me, the intoxicating sweetness that had filled my lungs and made every breath a delight, had evaporated like morning mist under a harsh sun. The familiar paths of the village, once imbued with the magic of her presence, now felt alien and hostile. The smiles of my neighbors, once a source of comfort, now seemed to hold a pity I couldn’t bear. I saw myself through their eyes, a fool, a child lost in a delusion. And perhaps they were right. Perhaps I had been a child, blissfully unaware of the complexities of the world, of the shadows that could lurk behind the most radiant smiles.
