A few days had passed since the raw, emotional storm that had raged between Kiara and Milano. The air between them, though no longer thick with accusations, still held a tentative fragility, like a delicate glass sculpture that might shatter with a single careless touch. Kiara found herself adrift in a sea of lingering anxieties, her body a landscape of unfamiliar sensations. This morning, the scent of freshly brewed coffee, usually a comforting aroma, turned her stomach into a churning mess.
