Kiara watched Milano, the storm in his eyes mirroring the tempest in her own heart. The harsh words, the accusations, had hung heavy between them, a shroud of misunderstanding. But now, as she saw the genuine pain etched on his face, a flicker of comprehension ignited within her. He hadn't meant to hurt her, not truly. His reaction, though brutal, stemmed from a place of fear, a fear of repeating past mistakes, of losing control, of causing her further pain. He was a man of the Mafia, a world where emotions were often suppressed, where vulnerability was a weakness. And she, in her desperation and hurt, had pushed him beyond his limits, into a territory he wasn't prepared for.

"Milano," she began, her voice soft, a stark contrast to the raw emotion that had filled the room moments before. "I... I'm sorry." The words felt small, inadequate, but they were all she had. "I shouldn't have invaded your personal space like that. I was hurting, and I lashed out. I didn't think about how my words, my actions, would affect you." Tears welled in her eyes, not of pain this time, but of regret. She saw the confusion in his gaze, the lingering hurt. "I understand now," she continued, her voice gaining a touch more strength. "You were trying to protect me, to protect yourself. And I… I didn't see it. I was so caught up in my own pain." She reached out, her hand trembling, and gently touched his arm. "I didn't mean to make you feel like you had to be someone you're not. I just want you to love me, the real me, and to let me love you."
