They finally talk. Awkward pauses mingle with shared laughter. Arthur's sincerity shines through his flustered attempts to explain. Beatrice finds herself charmed by his unique brand of chaos.
Arthur “Art” Pumble, a man whose internal monologue often sounded like a herd of startled pigeons trapped in a tin shed, found himself adrift in a sea of chattering bodies. Art, however, was already in the throes of Operation: Existential Crisis. His feet, notoriously independent agents with a penchant for tripping over air itself, seemed to be staging a protest. “But… Barty,” he stammered, his voice a reedy squeak, “what if I say something incredibly stupid? What if I accidentally call her ‘Brenda’?”
