Elara, her face a mask of weary resolve, approached him, her gaze steady. “It’s over, Zion.” The words were simple, yet they carried the weight of countless battles fought, of a long vigil finally concluded.
Zion nodded, though his mind was a chaotic swirl of images – the Weaver’s taunting visage, the shattering of false realities, the raw, exposed vulnerability of his own heart. “Over, perhaps,” he murmured, his voice raspy, “but not understood.” He looked down at his hands, hands that had wielded power he’d never imagined, hands that had fought against a darkness that had felt both external and deeply internal. “The ‘borrowed life’… what was it?”
