Chapter 9
Echoes of the Past, Seeds of the Future
Kaelen begins to build a new existence, grappling with the trauma of their past and the responsibility of their newfound liberty. Memories of the struggle shape their actions.
The air here tasted different. Not the sterile, recycled breath of the Sector, but something wilder, laced with the damp earth and the sharp tang of pine. The silence was the most profound change. Not the absence of sound, but the absence of the *System's* sound. No synthesized voices, no scheduled chimes, no distant thrum of machinery. Instead, there was the rustle of leaves, the distant hoot of some unseen creature, the murmur of Anya’s voice beside me.
