The parchment felt impossibly fragile in my trembling fingers, a mere whisper of a thing against the roaring tempest in my chest. To entrust these fragile breaths of my soul to the indifferent hands of a courier, to send them out into the world, was an act of a courage I scarcely possessed. Yet, the image of Elara, bathed in the soft, diffused light of the conservatory, her laughter a melody that had haunted my dreams, propelled me forward. It was a moment frozen in time, her hand gesturing towards a bloom, her eyes alight with a quiet joy that had, in that instant, stolen the very air from my lungs.

I had chosen a simple wax seal, a dove in flight, an emblem of peace and a plea for understanding, rather than the ostentatious crests that adorned the correspondence of men of status. My own station, as a poet of modest means, was a chasm that yawned between us, a silent, formidable barrier that I had, until this moment, deemed insurmountable. But the heart, when it truly yearns, finds its own audacious pathways.
