Confrontation
Harald finally faces the usurper. The ensuing battle is fierce, a clash of right against might, testing Harald's newfound bravery and leadership against ruthless ambition.
The air in the throne room was thick with anticipation, heavy as a storm about to break. It clung to the ornate tapestries, to the polished obsidian floor, to the very stones of the ancient castle. Harald stood at the threshold, his heart a frantic drumbeat against his ribs. Beside him, Lia’s hand was a small, steady weight on his arm, her eyes, usually so full of gentle warmth, now sharp and unreadable. Across the cavernous space, seated upon a throne that seemed to absorb all light, was the Usurper. They were an enigma, a figure shrouded in whispers and fear, their face obscured by the deep shadow of a hood.
“So,” a voice, smooth as aged silk yet sharp as a honed blade, echoed from the darkness. “The farmhand finally arrives to claim what is not his.”
Harald took a breath, the scent of old dust and something metallic – fear, perhaps, or blood – filling his lungs. “It is mine,” he stated, his voice surprisingly steady. “It is our family’s.”
