— Bon, demain matin on part. — On arrive, annonça M-Dark. Quelques minutes plus tard, le manoir apparut. Immense. Silencieux. Un long silence. Puis, lentement, tous les regards montèrent vers l’escalier. Les marches craquèrent. Une par une. Quelque chose descendait. — Ok… on recule. Doucement. — On devrait partir, dit Ace. — Trop tard, répondit M-Dark. Sa caméra continuait de filmer. Toujours. Petite. Contrairement au reste du manoir. Les murs étaient couverts de marques. Pas des fissures. Des traces. Comme des griffures. Et au centre… Une chaise. Tournée vers le mur. — C’est une blague… murmura Ace. La caméra de M-Dark zooma automatiquement. Sans qu’il touche rien. Sur le mur, quelque chose était écrit. Mais pas avec de la peinture. Avec une matière sombre. Presque noire. “VOUS REGARDEZ TOUJOURS.” Cerise lâcha un souffle court. — On sort. Maintenant. On reste groupés. Et surtout… on regarde pas partout. Un silence. Puis un craquement derrière eux. Ace pivota immédiatement la caméra. Rien. Mais sur l’image… Une silhouette était là. Derrière M-Dark. Très nette. Trop nette. — Recule… souffla Ace. M-Dark recula sans comprendre. — Quoi ? — Y’a quelqu’un derrière toi. M-Dark se retourna brusquement. Vide.

- Between the Line
Chapter 1: The Burning Line** Lera stood on a thin line that glowed in the darkness. She did not understand what was happening; she stood silent on that burning, bright line, feeling confused. All she could remember was having a heated argument with her parents and leaving in the middle of the night to crash at her best friend Lisa's place. She wondered, "Did I sleep?" Then, in all her confusion, a sudden gust of wind came at her from all directions, which was enough to snap her out of her daze. She wanted to move away from the line, but it was as if she was glued to the spot. Although she was scared to move, it scared her even more that she couldn't move an inch. Or maybe she didn't want to move at all—that line was the only light she had. If she moved, she might lose it; it might just disappear the moment she took a step off. That thought scared her to death. It didn't take long before a green wasteland appeared before her, creating a separation between the dark side and the green land. She subconsciously looked at the dark side; it was black and dark, but for some reason, she felt like she was being pulled there. The only things that could be seen were bright red eyes—cold, lonely, sad, exhausted, and crazy. It made her feel something she couldn't understand, causing her to look away. She looked toward the green lands, but it was blank and dark as if it had never appeared there. She was a little shocked at what was happening, and when she looked directly at the other side, it was also blank. Only one thought went through her mind: "What the hell is happening?". ### **Chapter 2: The Big Difference** In the midst of her confusion, she felt another gust of wind from one of the directions. The green land appeared again, but this time people appeared on the land. This brought even more confusion to her, yet she tried to get their attention: "Hey! Hello!! Please help!!!". A long, dredged silence followed her plea. No one moved or flinched at her voice; it was like she wasn't even there. However, she could hear every word they were saying: "Are we still doing the one-week fasting and praying?". "Of course, John, we need to prepare even more for the Lord's coming," an elderly man spoke. Lera continued to listen as they preached about Jesus Christ coming and how the Sunday law was going to gain more power. They spoke of standing your ground and never forgetting the teachings of Jesus Christ and the commandments of the Heavenly Father. They went on and on, but no one seemed angry or bored; they all looked happy and pleased. Lera still didn't understand what she had done to be brought here. She wondered if it was for not being a Christian, but she was a Christian—just not a Sabbath keeper. She thought, "Was that it? Was it because she is not a Sabbath keeper?". She wondered if she had died and if this was what death looked like. Suddenly, in her moment of confusion, she felt another breeze from the other side. Before her eyes, she saw something ungodly. On the other side, she saw something she thought was normal. It looked like a workplace where everyone was busy; it looked like a really busy day, but no one talked to each other. There was no light at that place, yet she could see every person clearly. The people there looked sad, angry, and tired, but no one spoke their thoughts out loud. Lera thought, "Maybe they can hear me, but what is wrong with these people?". She felt there was such a big difference from the green land, but thought, "Anyways, who cares, let me try". So, this time she screamed with all her might, "HELP!!!!!!". Like the first time, a long, dredged silence responded; the people did not even flinch. Now she was certain this was death. She started to wonder if she had suffered a heart attack or if her friend had killed her; her own thoughts were driving her crazy. Suddenly, her thoughts were cut short. A loud bell sound stopped everyone on the dark side, and a young woman spoke: "Lunchtime!!". For no reason, people started fighting and cursing each other, and then they started destroying all the work they had made while others cried. Then a young man spoke up: "Hey guys, look at us. The ones who are causing all this are those stupid people who think they are better than us and have a true God. They have destroyed our work; now they should pay with their lives!! Who's with me?". Everyone shouted together and agreed; they just wanted someone to blame. Lera heard how they made plans, and it scared her out of her mind to think of what was about to happen. An army started arresting all the people from the green lands. Some escaped, but the ones who were caught never resisted; they were calm, as if they knew this would happen eventually. The green land side became chaotic and wasn't as green as it used to be. ### **Chapter 3: I Was Just Confused** When Lera saw her best friend right in front of her, she jumped up in great relief and hugged her. "We are going to be late for classes again because of you!!!! What's wrong with today? Why are you so touchy?" Lisa responded, irritated with a bit of sarcasm. Lera didn't mind at all; to her own surprise, she missed that about her friend. Trying hard to hold back tears, she said while still hugging her, "I am... I almost died... Huff!". Unable to hold on any longer, she cried out loud, which was enough to scare her friend into silence. "W-what happened to you? Why are you acting like a crazy person?" Lisa asked. Lera could still hear the love and concern in her voice. "Thank you for waking me up," Lera whispered while holding her best friend more tightly than before. "Girl, you are going to choke me to death," Lisa responded in a squeaky voice, finally pulling herself away. Lisa quickly urged Lera to hurry up and get ready for class because they were already late. "But—" Lera started to speak, but was cut off. "We can talk about all that crazy stuff while going to class, Lera. Please, we are already running out of time!". Without giving her a chance to retort, Lisa dragged Lera to the bathroom. As Lera and Lisa stepped out of the dorms, the bright morning sun felt jarringly different from the 'burning line' Lera had just escaped. The campus was buzzing with students, a stark contrast to the eerie silence of the dream world where no one had flinched at her screams. Yet she felt a strong surge of emptiness in her heart, something she had never felt before. Even when she had hardcore fights with her parents, it never made her feel this sad and empty. The light that had once felt perfect suddenly felt like a cold shower on a winter morning. Distracted by her own eerie, sad thoughts, Lera started lagging behind. "Lera, for goodness sake!! Hurry up! Are you still hung up on the fight you had with your parents?" Lisa called in annoyance. This was enough to snap Lera back to her senses. "I'm sorry, Lisa. I really didn't mean that, and it's not about my parents. It's just... how can I explain this?". Lisa cut her off before she was done. "I don't know what's going on with you, but it's starting to freak me out. For goodness sake, it's just a dream. Grow up, life happens and—". Lera interjected, "Wait, I never told you anything about my dream. I only hugged you and then you dragged me to the bathroom. Who are you?". Lera hesitated, keeping her further thoughts to herself. "It's all your fault!!!!!!!!!!" Lisa loudly replied. With that, the color in Lisa's face started fading slowly; her eyes became empty and sad. "Lera, let's go. We'll be late for class.". "What do you mean it's all my fault? Hey, I'm talking to you!" Lera replied. Everything started fading, as if she were being shifted to another world. Through the midst of her confusion, Lera heard something familiar: 'Between the Line'. She thought, *What was that? What is happening?* She was so confused and panicked that she ended up falling unconscious. ### **THE HOSPITAL: Part One** "Lera! Lera!" Lisa spoke up, seeing that Lera was finally showing signs of waking up. "Where am I?" Lera inquired with a sugared voice. "Thank goodness you are awake. Doctor, I will go call her parents now to inform them she is finally awake," Lisa said. "Okay," the doctor replied. "Wait, what?" Lera was shocked by the revelation of her situation. "What's even going on?" But Lisa had already left the room before she could catch Lera's words. The only thing going through Lera's mind was what was happening. "Jesus Christ... are you trying to tell me something?" she gulped, waiting impatiently for an answer. "Are you trying to say something?" the doctor responded, perplexed, not knowing who she was talking to. "Young lady, are you okay? Who are you talking to?". Lera was so confused and shocked that she didn't pay mind to the doctor's words. "Miss, are you okay? Hello, can you see me?" But Lera didn't respond, as if trapped in a trance. Lera darted her eyes in deep confusion. "Where am I? Where... am I!". This totally confused the doctor. Quick to react, the doctor gave her a shot, and she fell back out of consciousness. ### **THE HOSPITAL: Part Two** "Ugh... what happened to my daughter? Doctor, didn't she wake up?" Lera's mother, Mrs. Brook Miller, eagerly asked in great concern. "Ma'am, please let the doctor speak first. You need to calm down," the doctor replied, trying to control the situation. "Madam, your daughter is fine. You don't have to worry. And yes, she definitely did wake up, but..." The doctor hesitated for some reason. "But! But what, doctor? Is my baby fine? Speak, damn it!". Finally, the doctor composed himself and spoke up. "Your daughter had a mental breakdown—more like a panic attack.". Gasping and shocked, Mrs. Miller broke down in tears. The doctor continued to explain what had occurred. Lisa tried very hard to keep Lera's mother calm through the discussion and inquired, "But doctor, my friend will be fine, right?". "Yes," the doctor continued. "As long as she has no prior record of any mental breakdown, she will be fine.". Relief finally reached Mrs. Miller. "She doesn't have any record..." she stuttered, not yet fully convinced by the doctor's assurance. "Will my daughter be okay? Please save her!!". Still composed, the doctor professionally responded, "As long as she has no mental health records, she will be perfectly fine. So there's no need to worry; she will be fine when she wakes up. If there are no other questions, I kindly request you to leave so the patient can rest, please.". Reluctantly, Mrs. Miller left the hospital room with Lisa. Before the doctor left, he checked Lera again to make sure she was in stable condition. While checking, he wondered, "How did this happen to you, Lera... huh?". ### **CHAPTER 4: What's Going On!** While the commotion over Lera's health was slowly dying down, something in Lera was changing. Something that no one would ever expect—something big, bigger than her entire existence. Lera felt her whole body was suddenly stiff, but she could hear a lingering voice coming from somewhere: *"Is she really going to be okay... hey..."* slowly fading. "Hey, Lera, Lera!" A familiar voice slowly shook her to consciousness. "What's going on?" Lera asked, half-conscious, while opening her eyes slowly. "Lera, you! You slept through the whole class! Now I'm really worried, what's going on?" Lisa asked with concern and helplessness. The first word that came out of Lera's mouth was, "WHAT!". Still in shock and total confusion, Lera asked, "But wasn't..." she continued, stuttering, "How did I get here? And you, where were you? What's going on!". She was screaming in frustration, confusion, and utter disbelief. "Lera, what's wrong with you after—" Lisa paused for a second. "After what, Lisa? After what!" Lera cut in before she could continue. "Lera, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way. It's just, after your fight with your parents, you have been acting differently.". "Lisa! I don't know, I swear I don't know how I got here. I don't know how I can explain all this. I was in some sort of hospital and you were there... the line... people... Lisa, I don't know what's going on. Please, I don't know if this is even reality—". Suddenly Lisa stopped her. "Lera! I think you should just make up with your parents instead of making up these stupid excuses. Maybe you will believe this is reality when your life is completely ruined. I am done!". Having finished, Lisa quickly stood up and left without giving Lera a chance to explain herself. Lera sat there, watching the angry, disappearing figure of her best friend fade away. Lera was left beyond perplexed; this was getting weirder than confusion. Instead of continuing to linger on these confusing thoughts, Lera carried her backpack and left the classroom with an empty mind. She had no plans because she only wanted answers. Lera silently stood at the door, her head empty, because she didn't care anymore. She just felt like she needed a break, at least for the moment. "Ley Ley!" Lera heard a familiar voice—husky, deep, but still smooth and melodic. She quickly turned around. "Bleden!" Lera exclaimed. It wasn't because she was shocked or because she missed him, but because he was the cause of the fight between her and her parents. CHAPTER 4: DON'T REINE YOUR LIFE ### **MY NEW BOYFRIEND: Part One** Lera remembered that day better than a New Year's Eve dinner with her family. Even better than a Christmas Eve. Bleden was a very popular guy at Lera's University, he was in his last year, last semester. And he was absolutely the most perfect guy on campus. And the thought of a guy like that, felt like a dream to her. Lera first met him in a cafetière and she did not pay any mind to him, knowing she couldn't possibly have a chance. ''Hey .. Lera..' Lisa whispered to Lera, ''Bleden is looking at you,'' directing her gaze there, there eyes might for just a split second, before Lera diverted her gaze. And just like that he started following her trying to make small talk, until he proposed to Lera to be his girlfriend. And all this happened last year, when they would go out on dates they would mostly talk about there inspiration and future plans, but lera always noticed that he would always change the topic when she would start up a conversation about religion. That should be one of the red flags but she thought atleast he is good looking and he must've his own reasons. It started small and slowly, the Bible that she used to hold on her chest, slowly began to loosen. She started making excuses of how busy she was with her studies just to miss Sunday prayer nights with her family, of course her parents noticed but didn't actually pay mind to it, they thought yes it might be exams, but little did they know their daughter was slowly being taken by the world
