The world had fractured. One moment, Aurelia was tumbling through a void of screaming wind and jagged rock; the next, a searing pain, a crushing impact, and then… nothing. Consciousness was a flickering candle, buffeted by the gales of oblivion. She drifted, a ghost in her own broken shell, the echoes of her husband’s triumphant roar and the maid’s delighted cackle a haunting lullaby. The cold seeped into her bones, a chilling testament to her abandonment. She was nothing but discarded refuse, a spoiled prize to be tossed aside.
