The grand hall of the palace, usually a symphony of polished marble and hushed reverence, now thrummed with a discordant energy. Sunlight, fractured through stained-glass windows depicting the kingdom’s glorious history, fell upon a scene that was anything but glorious. Her smile, when it flickered, was a predatory baring of teeth.
