Chapter 5
Echoes in the Ruins
Anya's historical expertise unlocks ancient mechanisms and traps within the ruins. Each solved puzzle brings them closer to La VID, but also deeper into peril, drawing Silas's forces nearer.
The air inside the ancient structure was thick with the scent of dust and something else, something metallic and faintly sweet, like forgotten perfume. Anya ran a gloved hand over a glyph etched into the stone wall, her breath catching. "It's like nothing I've ever seen," she murmured, her voice a low hum that seemed to vibrate with the very stillness of the place. Leo, ever watchful, kept his back to the entrance, his hand hovering near the blaster holstered at his hip. He’d seen enough of the universe to know that some things were better left undisturbed.
Anya’s fingers traced the intricate lines of the glyph. "This isn't just art, Leo. It's a key. The patterns… they’re not random. They describe a sequence, a celestial alignment." She pulled a datapad from her satchel, its screen casting a pale blue glow onto her focused face. "If I can input this correctly, it should activate something."
