The hum of the *Stardust Drifter* vibrated through Leo’s bones, a familiar thrum that usually soothed him, but today it felt like a nervous tremor. Outside the viewport, the swirling nebulae painted the void in hues of amethyst and bruised plum, a stark contrast to the stark, utilitarian bridge. Beside him, Anya’s gaze was fixed on the holographic display, her brow furrowed in a way that spoke of a thousand years of ancient texts and a single, devastating mistake. They were here. After everything, after the chases, the betrayals, the heart-stopping near misses, they had finally reached the coordinates. The coordinates that supposedly held La VID.

“It’s… quiet,” Anya murmured, her voice barely disturbing the charged silence. “Too quiet.”

Leo grunted, his knuckles white on the pilot's yoke. He had expected some kind of beacon, some cosmic siren call, not this suffocating stillness. His gaze swept over the myriad of readings, searching for any anomaly, any ripple in the fabric of space that shouldn't be there. His disillusionment, a constant companion since that ill-fated mission years ago, whispered doubts in his ear. What if it was all a wild goose chase? What if La VID was just a myth, a fever dream of ancient civilizations?
