The humid Atlanta air hung heavy, thick with the promise of a storm that never quite seemed to break. It was the kind of air that clung to your skin, seeped into your clothes, and made even the simplest breath feel like a chore. I was sprawled on my beat-up couch, the springs protesting with every shift of my weight, a half-finished lyric scribbled on a crumpled napkin beside me. The melody in my head was a stubborn thing, a hummingbird flitting just out of reach, and the words were even worse, a tangled mess of street slang and half-formed aspirations.

Crash, bless his impulsive heart, was pacing the small living room like a caged tiger. His energy was a physical force, a constant hum that vibrated through the thin walls of our shared apartment. Chris, on the other hand, was a study in stillness. He sat at the chipped Formica table, his fingers drumming a silent, intricate rhythm against the surface, his eyes – those sharp, assessing eyes – fixed on some point beyond the grimy window.

"Yo, Kong, you gonna stare at that napkin all day?" Crash finally exploded, throwing his hands up in exasperation. "We got business to handle."
