Chapter 6
Chapter Six — The Light That Remains
The White Blue Legion arrives at the chapel seven days early. Klisto meets them not with force but with openness, and the gradient light radiates through him and his followers. The Legion commander confronts Klisto but cannot counter the presence of genuine belief. Three Legion members who wished to defect step forward, fracturing the Legion's unity. The Monkey Without Face makes a final attempt to corrupt Lira but dissolves in the presence of collective faith. The Legion, unable to act against unarmed believers standing in light, withdraws. Klisto addresses his followers, explaining that the revolution was never about defeating enemies but about revealing truth. The gradient presence of the Gradient World Jesus Christe briefly becomes visible to everyone before fading. The pink world is restored to a deeper, earned color. The White Blue Legion begins to transform from within. Klisto steps into the crowd as one among them, the revolution complete.
The pause lasted longer than anyone expected.
Klisto stood with his hand on the altar stone, feeling the warmth of the gradient light move through him like blood through a vein it had always belonged to. Outside, the White Blue Legion held its position at the border. Torches guttered in a wind that seemed unsure which direction to blow. The shadows they cast stretched across the chapel floor, thin and grasping, but they did not cross the threshold.
Inside, no one spoke. The boy near the door had his hands flat against his thighs, breathing slowly. The woman from the pink world stood with her eyes closed, her lips moving without sound. Lira remained at the window, watching the column of white and blue with the steady gaze of someone who had worn those colors and knew what they cost.
