Squeaky's Wisdom Shared

With all the gold found, Rufus thanked Squeaky. 'You see, King Rufus,' Squeaky chirped, 'true treasure is not just gold, but friendship and remembering where you put things!'

King Rufus, his royal robes slightly askew and a smudge of what looked suspiciously like jam on his chin, stood amidst a sparkling mountain of gold coins. His eyes, usually wide with panic or narrowed in obsessive counting, were now soft and shining. He had found every last coin, from the one nestled in the beak of a rather surprised-looking garden gnome to the one peeking out from under his very own royal bed. It was, he had to admit, a rather magnificent sight.

Beside him, perched on a pile of shimmering doubloons, sat Squeaky. The wise old squirrel twitched his nose, his bushy tail giving a gentle swish. He looked rather pleased with himself, as if he’d just solved the world’s most perplexing acorn puzzle.

“You see, King Rufus,” Squeaky chirped, his voice a melodic blend of rustling leaves and tiny bells, “true treasure is not just gold, but friendship and remembering where you put things!”
